ound recording equipment for saleAs a DJ, there are certain pieces of equipment that you will absolutely need if you are to keep your business up and running. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, you are going to need to look into the best sound recording equipment for sale, or at the very least, something decent and within your price range. One of the pieces of equipment that you’re going to need is an audio interface and we’re going to review two of them quickly, but first, what is an audio interface?

Something you need to understand about your computer before you begin is that it probably does not have the ability to output high resolution audio. If you’ve ever wondered how a DJ can produce such amazing sounds with only their laptop, this would be how. The audio interface will also help to prepare sound that you run through your computer. If you are recording or sampling into your PC for example, the audio interface will ensure that it is recorded in high quality, and that it can be used for the most high end applications. In other words, you will have a miniature recording studio.

Now that you know what the audio interface is, let’s take a look at two of the more popular models on the market. You know you need one, but what features are you looking for?

DJ Tech DJ Rec 2 Channel USB Recorder for DJs and Audio Engineers

sound recording equipmentIf you’re looking for something that’s easy to use, then you probably don’t need to look much further. The DJ Rec has quite a bit going for it, namely the fact that it is both an MP3 recorder and a player featuring a built-in LED display. In addition to that, you will be able to record from both the audio and line inputs quickly, which is definitely a useful feature.

Along with that, you will find that you are actually able to use this device to record from live broadcasts right through the mixing board. If that’s not useful, we don’t know what is. Now that you know what it does, what sets it apart from other models exactly? First of all, as you know, it does amazing things with MP3 files, but none of that would matter if it couldn’t interface well with your PC and other equipment.

This device, however, uses stereo RCA input and output with a volume control meter streamed directly to an LED display. Not only do you have maximum control over the device when you buy sound recording equipment, you’re also able to see everything that is going on. This is in direct contrast to many other models that lack an LED display and force you to guess. This device takes all the guesswork out of your audio interface and ensures that you’re in full command of the performance.

M Audio Fast Track Pro

There is definitely some strength here in this device, with the Fast Track Pro being at the forefront of M-Audio’s efforts. Some of the key features include:

  • 4 RCA Outputs
  • Two ¼ Inch Inserts
  • Two Multipurpose XLR and ¼ Input Jacks

There are some clear benefits to this model one of which is that it is pretty compact, making it perfect for the DJ that needs to travel light. Though it is smaller and a bit more portable, it doesn’t feel cheap, and it does have the physical controls you would need to command your performance.  There is definitely a lot going on here, and we’ve found that while it might not be as comprehensive as the previous model mentioned, it certainly does have its uses.

These are two of the front runners on the market, but how do you choose between them? In our humble opinion, the DJ tech is the better choice for a few reasons. First of all, you will have far greater control over the device, which is a must when you buy home recording studio equipment. Secondly, you just can’t beat that digital display. Overall, we wholeheartedly recommend the DJ tech, and we’re certain you’ll agree.
