Instead of just projecting dots in the same pattern, a moving head enables you to add movement to your lighting. They’re great for extending the lighting you already have.
Why Use a Moving Head?
Have you already set up effective wash lights and a few effects, and you feel that there’s something missing? A moving head may be for you if you are ready to extend the capabilities of your lighting rig far beyond its immediate capabilities. Moving heads differ from wash lights or effects in that you can manipulate their motion much more, for example, you can use them to pan and tilt, shutter strobes, move gobos, and create zoom effects with your lights. Instead of simply projecting dots in the same pattern, a moving head enables you to add dynamic and movement. Moving heads are a bit more rare to see than your typical wash lights or effects, and it is a good way to set yourself apart from other DJs in terms of your ability to provide a dynamic, dramatic visual experience. If you want to be able to offer relevant, dynamic experiences to your audiences, a moving head is your best available option.
